Building Character in Historic St. Louis
This week, we had the pleasure of completing a beautiful front yard upgrade down in St. Louis city, right by the scenic Tower Grove Park. The focal point of this project is a brand-new, two-tier retaining wall featuring four stately columns. As you can see in our initial design rendering, creates incredible depth and dimension for the property. We constructed the walls and columns using Legacy Straight Face Block in a rich Terra Cotta color, which perfectly complements the historic brick exterior of the home.

Premium Finishes & Clean Landscaping
To give the hardscaping a polished, high-end finish, we topped both the tiered retaining walls and the columns with Versa Lok Tumbled caps. We then shifted our focus to the softscaping to ensure the entire space looked pristine. We cleaned up the garden beds and laid down a fresh, thick layer of triple ground black mulch. The dark mulch creates a striking contrast that really makes the Terra Cotta blocks pop. To ensure a natural and accessible flow through the beds, we also installed gorgeous Fond Du Lac natural steppers.
Illuminating the Space with Custom Lighting
A beautiful entrance shouldn’t disappear when the sun goes down. To ensure this home stands out at night, we integrated a custom lighting package into the design. We installed under-cap LED lights on the wall and columns, casting a warm, inviting glow that highlights the texture of the stone, as perfectly captured.
To tie the whole evening aesthetic together, we also installed spotlights at the house. The final result is a welcoming, highly functional landscape that boosts curb appeal day and night!
