Designing the Perfect Extension

Every great backyard transformation starts with identifying what a home is missing. For this project in Washington, Missouri, the homeowners had been living in their beautiful new build for two years but had yet to install a deck or patio off the back. They were left with a blank canvas that was practically begging for a functional outdoor living space. We stepped in to help them design a seamless transition from the indoors to the outdoors, creating a custom set of steps that lead directly down to a brand-new, expansive broomed concrete patio.

A Gable Roof Built to Belong

A spacious patio is a fantastic start, but having a protected area to enjoy the outdoors regardless of the blistering sun or a light drizzle changes everything. To provide ultimate comfort, we constructed a robust gable roof structure directly over the new concrete pad. The primary goal for this phase of the build was architectural harmony. We expertly tied the new roofline into the existing home, matching the style and proportions so perfectly that it looks as though it was built with the house from day one.

Warm Details and Endless Entertainment

To keep the new covered patio from feeling purely utilitarian, we focused on bringing warmth and character to the space. Inside the new structure, we installed a stunning stained tongue-and-groove ceiling that draws the eye upward and adds a rich, custom feel to the area. This new patio and roof cover will serve as a true, year-round extension of their home, providing the perfect, inviting space to hang out, entertain guests, and make memories for years to come.
