Conquering Drainage Issues with Functional Design
When this customer reached out to us, they were facing a frustrating challenge: heavy water runoff from their neighbors was flooding their backyard, leaving deep, muddy ruts in its wake. The constant moisture had rendered the yard completely unusable for the homeowners and their grandchildren. To combat this, we designed and installed a comprehensive drainage solution featuring beautiful river rock dry creek beds and sturdy small retaining walls. These functional additions successfully capture and reroute the excess water away from the property while seamlessly blending into the natural landscape, providing a safe, dry foundation around the children’s play area.
Expanding Living Space with Premium Features
With the water problem solved, we shifted our focus to transforming the newly reclaimed space into a true outdoor oasis. We designed and installed a gorgeous patio extension tucked neatly beneath their existing upper deck.
Using high-quality County Material pavers, we created a durable, visually striking surface complete with a contrasting border, perfect for relaxing or entertaining. To complement the beautiful new hardscaping, we added fresh, dark mulch beds around the mature trees. This softscaping provides a striking visual contrast and lays the groundwork for a lush, park-like environment.
Finishing Touches for Accessibility and Charm
The true magic of this project lies in the thoughtful finishing touches that pull the whole yard together. To ensure safe and easy accessibility across the new dry creek beds, we strategically placed large, natural stone steppers leading directly down to the patio stairs. You can see how these rustic pathway steppers perfectly bridge the gap between the rock drainage features and the modern hardscaping. The final result is a backyard that no longer feels like a muddy slope, but rather a private, accessible park where the customers are thrilled to spend time making memories with their grandchildren!
