Tackling Overgrown Landscaping with a Sleek Garden Wall
Our clients in Sunset Hills, MO needed a major facelift to modernize the front appearance of their home. The original curb appeal was obscured by dated, overgrown evergreens and bulky bushes that hid the home’s brick facade and crowded the front entrance. After sitting down with the homeowners to design a clean, modern layout, our team cleared out the overgrown landscaping. In its place, we built a garden wall using County Material 6” smooth block in a Timeless color. Capped with a smooth Reflection cap, this new retaining structure provides crisp lines that neatly define the plant beds while holding soil securely on the slope.
Cohesive Paver Landings and Low-Maintenance Softscaping
To further improve access and complement the new garden wall, we opened up the front porch entry. We installed a custom paver landing crafted from County Material Hollandstone pavers in Reflection color, matching the garden wall caps for a seamless aesthetic. Within the garden beds, we replaced high-maintenance mulch with clean decorative river rock for a durable, elegant ground cover. To complete the softscaping, we added minimal, tidy plantings that introduce vibrant greenery without blocking windows or architectural details.
Highlighting Architectural Details with Integrated Evening Lighting
To ensure this front yard transformation stays striking after dark, we added a complete exterior lighting system. We installed a dedicated low-voltage transformer along with five targeted spotlights strategically positioned around the property. Once the sun sets, these warm spotlights illuminate the brick walls and highlight the new hardscape boundaries. The resulting illumination adds nighttime safety, highlights the home’s unique architectural features, and creates an inviting evening presence.
